The Adonis tetra, Lepidarchus adonis, is also known as the Jellybean tetra. It is a very small African fish of the family Alestidae.
Lepidarchus adonis is native to the western (Atlantic) coast of Africa. It is found in Ghana, Sierra Leone and the Côte d'Ivoire.
The Adonis Tetra can reach 2.1 centimetres long so it is a very small fish, even smaller than the Neon Tetra. In fact it is one of the smallest fish normally kept in aquariums.
The IUCN red list lists the Adonis tetra as being vulnerable (2010). There is considerable cause for concern because of the increasing levels of pollution in the waterways it comes from.
